Laiwu City lies in the center of Shandong Province, at the east foot of Mountain Tai, close to Qufu, which is the hometown of Confucius. It has a long history and resplendent culture. Laiwu has jurisdiction over two administrative districts-- Laicheng and Gangcheng, three provincial development zones and a tourist area, with a total area of 2,246 square kilometers and a population of 1.27 million. Now it has formed three major characteristic parts, which are respectively the travel resort in the north, the ginger and garlic processing, storing and transporting area in the center, and the steel processing and logistics area in the south.
With three expressways, which respectively connect with Beijing-Shanghai Expressway, Beijing-Fuzhou Expressway and Jinan-Qingdao Expressway, crossing in the city, the transportation of Laiwu is very convenient and the density ranks first in the nation. Jinan-Laiwu-Qingdao Expressway connects in a straight line, which makes it possible to take only 30 minutes to drive from Laiwu to Mountain Tai, 40 minutes to Jinan International Airport, and two hours to Qingdao Port. In addition, two railways meet in the City, which are respectively linked to Beijing-Shanghai Railway and Qingdao-Jinan Railway.
